"Cinema Vision from Yarraville's Sun Theatre Reaches East Timor

A moving project has been undertaken by Sun Theatre to bring cinema entertainment to East Timor.

But not only is the Yarraville company taking movie flicks and popcorn to East Timor, it is building a sustainable business and providing local jobs.

After hearing that the fledgling democracy had not had a cinema since 1999, Sun Theatre head technician Lewis Thorne said the Yarraville theatre staff had taken on the task to bring cinema entertainment back to the East Timorese community...."

In the 3D action-comedy The Green Hornet, Britt Reid (Seth Rogen) is the son of LA's most prominent and respected media magnate and perfectly happy to maintain a directionless existence on the party scene - until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his vast media empire. Striking an unlikely friendship with one of his father's more industrious and inventive employees, Kato (Jay Chou), they see their chance to do something meaningful for the first time in their lives: fight crime. To get close to the criminals, they come up with the perfect cover: they'll pose as criminals themselves. Protecting the law by breaking it, Britt becomes the vigilante The Green Hornet as he and Kato hit the streets. Using all his ingenuity and skill, Kato builds the ultimate in advanced retro weaponry, Black Beauty, an indestructible car equal parts firepower and horsepower. Back from Tour de Timor - Dili movies this weekend, September 17th-18th

Now that we have dusted off the screen from its travels in the eastern districts with the Tour de Timor, we're all set for a weekend's screenings in Dili.

Please note that there will be NO movie screening at the Sunset Fair this Friday (September 16th).

On Saturday night (September 17th) at Government House (Palacio do Governo), it's "Gulliver's Travels":  a fantasy comedy movie directed by Rob Letterman and very loosely based on Part One of the 18th-century novel of the same name by Jonathan Swift, though the film takes place in modern day. In "Gulliver's Travels", travel writer Lemuel Gulliver takes an assignment in Bermuda, but ends up on the island of Liliput, where he towers over its tiny citizens.
The film stars Jack Black, Emily Blunt, Jason Segel, Billy Connolly, Catherine Tate, Chris O'Dowd, and Amanda Peet.

Screening at 7.15pm, English with Bahasa Indonesia subtitles.

On Sunday evening at 7.15pm, we'll be showing "Enchanted" at Government House. A part-animated, part-live action movie, "Enchanted" is a classic Disney fairytale set in the gritty New York City of today. It's a story about a fairytale princess (Amy Adams) from the past who is thrust into the present day by an evil queen (Susan Sarandon). Soon after her arrival, Princess Giselle begins to change her views on life and love after meeting a handsome lawyer (Patrick Dempsey). Can a storybook view of romance survive in the real world?

Starts at 8.30pm, English with Bahasa Indonesia subtitles.

This Friday, September 9th at Sunset Fair, the entertainment programme has a Brazilian theme. The Guitarists of Pedreira have been flown over from Brazil to play live, and Cinema Lorosa'e will be screening the movie "2 Filhos de Francisco" ("The Two Sons of Francisco") at 8.30. Thank you to the Embassy of Brazil in Dili for supplying the film, which will be shown in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Cinema Lorosa'e will be heading out to the districts to follow the Tour de Timor  so there will be no Dili screenings on Saturday/Sunday, September 10th/11th. We will be showing movies for the communities along the Tour de Timor route - more news on this later. We're very excited!

"Two Sons of Francisco": The story of Francisco, a very simple and poor man whose dream was to see his children become country music stars, and who made every effort to make it happen
