Off to a flying start with our first weekend's movies

On August 26th Cinema Lorosa'e was launched with a screening of "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'houle", dubbed into Tetum, at the Sunset Fair by the beautiful Kristu Rei beach area of Dili. A program of local shorts was played before the feature, with the 11 minute comedy 'Vagabond' from Dili Film works the clear crowd favourite.

Yes, Owls DO speak Tetum!

Screenings then continued over the weekend at the Palacio de Governo with Finding Nemo on Saturday and the Owls again on Sunday.

Preparing for a screening at Dili's Government House

A range of family orientated films and local shorts will be screened over the season. Screenings are in Dili Friday to Sunday and in the districts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, through until end of November.

Next weekend's movies in Dili will be "Rio" on Friday, September 2nd at the Sunset Fair, "Unstoppable" at Government house on Saturday, September 3rd and "Rio" again on Sunday, September 4th at Government House. Both films will be in English with Bahasa Indonesia subtitles.

Animated musical comedy movie - great for kids
7pm Friday at the Sunset Fair, Kristu Rei
and Sunday at Government House

"Unstoppable" - a gripping thriller suitable for family viewing.
With an unmanned, half-mile long freight train barrelling

Starring Denzel Washington.
7pm, Saturday September 3rd at Government House.
During this year's season, all 13 districts of Timor-Leste will be visited, including travelling with the Tour de Timor mountain bike race. We are finalising the programme and will have more information for you very soon.

The project has created jobs for local people, who have been trained by Sun Theatre staff in projection skills and digital media management and are now operating as a team. Film programming and technical support is being provided from the Sun Theatre in Yarraville.

The Cinema Lorosa'e has its first successful weekend under its belt
